Assessment & Recording

At the Federation of Hackbridge Primary School and Spencer Nursery School we carefully monitor the progress and attainment of every child. It is important that children make expected progress from their own starting point. Every child is unique and should not be compared to other children.

We see assessment as an integral part of teaching and learning, and it is inextricably linked to our curriculum. We use three broad overarching forms of assessment:

  • day-to-day in-school formative assessment
  • in-school summative assessment (teacher assessment and standardised tests)
  • nationally standardised summative assessment.

If you ever have any concerns about your child's progress or attainment, please make an appointment to see their class teacher.
