Hackbridge Primary School

Hackbridge Primary School

Federated with Spencer Nursery School

Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education

Our PSHE education curriculum aims to provide our pupils with the skills they need to lead full and happy lives as they grow up and provides explicit teaching to support our outstanding focus on safeguarding across the school.

We aim for children to develop core understanding and skills at forming and maintaining a range of healthy relationships, in person and online, and know when and how they can ask for help. We also want children to be armed with a wide knowledge base of practical ways that they can keep themselves physically and mentally safe and healthy and what to do if they have any concerns about theirs or others’ physical or mental health.

In addition to meeting the statutory requirements for Relationships Education and Health Education, we also aim for children to have broader knowledge and skills for a successful life as part of their local, national and international communities through a range of lessons on citizenship, environmental issues and finances.

PSHE education can include sensitive topics and we want to ensure that parents and carers are fully informed of the content and approach that we take to these lessons at Hackbridge Primary.

If you have any further questions, please speak to your child's class teacher or the PSHE Team (Miss Mathis, Mr Bird & Mr Brown) who lead on PSHE education across the school.
