About us
Spencer Nursery School is open from 8.00am - 6.00pm, Monday to Friday
We are open for 51 weeks of the year, excluding public holidays and a week at Christmas
In Ladybirds (0-2yrs) and Bumblebees (2-3yrs), there is a minimum booking of 2 full days per week as we find that the children benefit from this consistency.
In Fireflies (3-4yrs), there is a minimum booking of 3 full days per week to ensure that the children fully benefit from our taught curriculum.
A deposit is required once your child's place is confirmed - this is based on your average monthly fee calculation and will be confirmed to you by our Nursery Manager with your contract.
Fees are payable monthly in advance on the 1st of the month by bank transfer, childcare vouchers or tax-free childcare.
Fees are calculated for the full year, including any deduction in relation to universal free education funding for 3-4 year olds or government free childcare funding for 9 month to 4 year olds, and then divided into 12 roughly equal installments. We do this so that parents/carers know a consistent payment figure which is due each month as opposed to paying a lower amount in term time when free education or childcare hours are applied, but facing larger bills in holiday periods when the full daily rate applies.
Please see here for the current fees.
Funded Childcare Hours
We offer the 30-hour government childcare funding for working families for children aged 9 months to 4 years old and the 15-hour universal funding for 3-4 year olds.
• 15 hours per week for 38 weeks = 570 hours per year
• 30 hours per week for 38 weeks = 1,140 hours per year
Funded hours are deducted from term time weeks only.
In Ladybirds and Bumblebees, our daily sessions are 10 hours in length (8.00am-6.00pm).
In Fireflies, there are 8 places a day of 8 hours in session length (8.00am-4.00pm) and 16 places a day of 10 hours in sessions length (8.00am-6.00pm).
Please note: Funded hours do not cover the cost of meals, consumables or extra activities outside of the curriculum.
Meal costs are detailed within your individual personal financial statement each year. If you have any questions or would like to discuss options about providing your own meals, please speak to the Nursery Manager.
Meal costs are currently charged at:

The governing body reviews the fees annually and parents are given written notice of any resulting fee increase.
